Advocating for our homeless and low-income neighbors

What is the purpose and mission of CGM?

Mission: Love thy Neighbor

To live out the Gospel message through the compassionate feeding, clothing, and caring for our community’s low-income and homeless residents.

Purpose: Love thy Neighbor

To provide services aimed at alleviating hunger and homelessness, while being an advocate for the financially underprivileged children, youth, adults and elderly members of our community.

Vision: Love thy Neighbor

To establish an operating model of support and opportunity for the growing poor & homeless population that inspires community activism, that can be replicated everywhere.

Collaborative Partnerships:

  • Boston Food Bank / Feed America - GBFB is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country.
  • Elder Services of Merrimack Valley - A private non-profit agency serving elders and disabled adults who reside in Northeast Massachusetts since 1974
  • Emmaus - a community-based nonprofit corporation founded in 1985 to provide housing and services to homeless adults and families in Haverhill, MA.

How did Common Ground Cafe' begin?

The Common Ground Café was established in the fall of 2011 to fill the void in Haverhill’s inner-city Acre neighborhood when Somebody Cares New England, an outreach to the poor and homeless, transitioned to their new location at Currier Square in the Mount Washington neighborhood of Haverhill.

We rely on volunteer participation and your generous financial gifts to fund our diverse local and international outreach ministries.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity.
